Softball Closes Out Play In Lake Charles

LAKE CHARLES, La. – A close game got out of hand in the late innings as TSU closed out its season opening tournament on Sunday with a loss to Idaho State.
 
ISU jumped out to a 3-0 lead after the first but TSU answered in the second as Angel Morales drew a leadoff walk followed by Destinee Dixon's bunt single. Lanay Carr drove in pinch runner Jayda Carter for the early run.
 
The contest remained scoreless until the fifth as ISU opened with a walk and homer to break open the contest as they scored 10 runs over the fifth and sixth frames.
 
Carr led TSU with two hits while Pam Richardson, Jazmine Dodd and Dixon had one hit each. Madalynn Gonzales dropped the decision on the mound.
 
TSU is back in action on Wednesday at Houston Christian for a 4 p.m. start.
